Ireland day 0500. Friday 10 February 2023- Bread & Swim
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
Val was at work again today and I had a relatively quiet day, partly in recovery mode after yesterday’s quick sprint to the UK and back.
I dealt with car-related paperwork in the morning then spent a couple of hours down at the gym clocking up some kilometers for the Morocco challenge.
For the rest of the afternoon, I did some shopping then made some more of the Tesco packet bread mix. Today I’m trying a granary loaf but by way of experimentation, I have replaced the water in the mix with beer. It’s Scraggy Bay, from Donegal, and is one of Ireland’s favourites (among those who profess to know about these things). Obviously there was some left over which I had to drink. I have no idea what the bread will taste like but doubtless I will find out in a couple of hours time.
After dinner of a delicious chilli which Val rustled up out of seemingly nothing, we both had a video call with family in the evening then are aiming for an early night while we still try to catch up from yesterday’s sleep deficit. (We were both so tired yesterday we forgot to turn the central heating off so as well as running up a massive gas bill, we woke up practically molten this morning).
