(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

The main event today, for me, was a business visit (yes really) to Gas Networks Ireland offices in Finglas this afternoon.

But before that, we found time to have a quick canter round the demesne to check out the concert preparations.   It’s Florence and the Machine tonight, and she is in full voice as I write this now.   There are six nights of concerts this summer, and Florence is the fourth.

But going back to Gas Networks Ireland.   I was there to talk about low carbon energy and I really enjoyed it.  Especially as Finglas is only 20 minutes drive away round the M50, and it’s right next to Ikea and Decathlon, which I love.   So while I was having my meeting, I dropped Val off at the shops, and once I’d finished I met up with her in the Ikea café and had some of their smoked salmon with dill sauce which is always remarkably good value at about €3 a plate.

After buying a couple of shoe racks (for our Imelda Marcos sized collection of footwear), we dropped over to Decathlon to buy some shorts and a couple of t-shirts, then drove home.

In the evening, aside from doing some forward planning for the rest of the summer and enjoying a couple of beers, we did a quick review of our travels around Ireland over the last couple of years.   It turns out we have visited nineteen of the 32 counties, and have 13 left to go.   You can see where we haven’t been on the map at the bottom of this blog.   Still plenty of exciting trips to be had!

Rehearsals for Florence and the Machine, who are performing at the Castle tonight, were ongoing this morning Various flavours of Eucalyptus, a relic of the Milo Talbot antipodean collecting days, seemingly thriving in the castle grounds
A late afternoon trip to the cavernous warehouse at IKEA after my meeting Ditto Decathlon, just cross the road
These are the counties of Ireland that we haven’t visited together (I have been to Mayo on my own).   Cavan, Fermanagh and Tyrone – here we come!
