(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

An important day today as I had to go in to Dublin to collect a new suit I am having tailor-made for me, for a big family wedding later in the summer.

So we headed into town after breakfast, sheltering outside a café to try and stay dry in the heavy but thankfully short downpour that struck us as soon as we got off the tram.   Once it stopped raining, we dashed round the corner, where the suit was duly tried on in the tailors’ (Paul Henry in Strand Street Great – highly recommended) and deemed to be good to go.   So with some relief I paid and we departed.

By this time we were both definitely ready for lunch – which we enjoyed at the also excellent and nearby Panem Italian café.   After lunch we had to go and buy the socks etc to go with the suit then, equipped with everything I could possibly need, including cufflinks, we headed back to Malahide, and enjoyed a cup of tea.

I must admit that by this stage I was at times struggling to stay awake – I think I was pretty tired after the weekend, despite a good night’s sleep last night.   Then once we had gathered our strength, we headed out into the demesne to enjoy a short walk in the evening light, then had a half price goat’s cheese quiche from Tesco for dinner.   Now there are a couple of podcasts to catch up on, then I think an early night beckons!

(By the way in case readers were wondering about Val’s wedding outfit – fear not, she has sorted that out back in the UK).

Today’s photos (click to enlarge)

At Malahide station this morning.   In the distance, under the bridge, you can just spot rail engineers in hi-vis vests.   They seem to be working on a siding down there, on the track between Malahide and Portmarnock.   I don’t know what they are doing – widening or lengthening it perhaps – but it goes on all night and it started weeks ago.   But at least its not as loud as last year’s bridge works, and it doesn’t keep us awake at night Driver’s view (almost) from the cab of the Luas from Connolly to Jervis
Superb Italian lunch at Panem café on Ormond Quay Lower, just round the corner from the tailor’s In Arnott’s department store.   It’s quite a nice place, though like in all department stores, the smell of perfume as you go in can be at bit overwhelming
On the north bank of the Liffey, with Ha’penny bridge in the background Here we are on the famous bridge
