Ireland day 0783. Monday 20 November 2023- Office

Today’s summary	Spent an hour in the flat first thing dealing with some admin matters, then the whole of the rest of the day in the office of the company I am currently working for.

Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

This is a short and mostly pictureless blog because, since going back to work, I have much less time to be out and about photographing things.   Makes me realise just how cut off from the outside world I was, for all those years of full time work in the office.

Today was hard work, but rewarding.   I spent an hour or so handling some admin matters from the flat, then drove over to the office – which is about half an hour away outside rush hour, but twice that at peak time.   It would be very tempting just to work from home, as I could do with modern technology – but I find I get too easily distracted.   So going into the office, especially when you are new and don’t know anyone or even how the coffee machine works – can be quite stressful.   Anyway, I made myself do it and felt very satisfied by the end of the day.   I had managed to deal with quite a lot of issues while I was there, and had a couple of meetings.   So very much worthwhile.

I’m going to stop now and go and make dinner.   I have a business trip tomorrow (to Cork) so it will be an early start.   But it’s my first proper business trip for seven years so it will be quite a novelty!   I will report back tomorrow.
