(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

A slightly different day today.   Val was still away in London so it would have been tempting to lounge around in bed drinking tea this morning.   But that wasn’t an option, as I had arranged to go on a site visit first thing, so I had to be up and away early.   Especially as I had to drive round the M50 to get there, and you’re always delayed by the traffic by at least half an hour if you go anywhere near the motorway.

The visit itself was very interesting.   I always like getting out of the office and to see facilities where real things actually happen.   This was no exception and I learned a lot.  The only downside was that a lot of the visit was outside and I had only a thin coat as protection against the cold wind.

The visit was finished by lunchtime so rather than driving round to the office, as I had no scheduled meetings this afternoon, I thought I would return to the flat and work from there.   As usual, my “WFH” efforts were a mixed success though I did manage to get some of my work written up, which was a good result.   And it gave me the opportunity to have more casserole for lunch(!)

I was finished with work by about six so spent a happy hour or so watching hiking videos (it’s addictive) then decided to move from the virtual world and into the real world and go on a short walk round Malahide.   It turned out to be enjoyable and refreshing, the perfect antidote to a day mostly spent in offices or behind a computer screen.

I need to stop now and get ready to pick up Val from the airport.   First though I need to make dinner, so she can have something to eat when she gets in.   It will come as no surprise that we are having beef casserole.

This is how I like to spend my winter evenings.   Watching videos on YouTube about walking in warm sunny places.   This isn’t a good habit Leaving Malahide by St Margaret’s Road for my walk this evening
Jameson Orchard estate, between Robswall and Paddy’s Hill.   Nice and modern, but a bit soul-less.   Will be interesting to see how it looks in 20 years time
