Ireland day 0811. Monday 18 December 2023- Casserole!
Today’s summary I spent the day in the office and Val went back to the UK for a flying visit to meet up with family.   In the evening I had yet more casserole for dinner, then went on a short walk and indulged my fantasies by watching videos about hiking on sunny warm islands on YouTube
Today’s weather Overcast with some drizzle.   Light south westerly wind.   Appx 13c

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

I steeled myself and got up at a reasonable hour today, ready to face the last week of work before the Christmas break.   So after a cup off tea in bed, Val (who is off work for two more whole days) headed off to the chemist to get her annual flu vaccination and I made for the car and drove round to the office.   Actually, later in the morning, Val took the trusty 102 to the airport and flew back to the UK for a one night pre-Christmas visit to meet up with family.   She’s back tomorrow evening.

My day in the office was actually pleasingly productive.   It was quite quiet (since the pandemic a lot of people work from home on Mondays and Fridays) so I managed to get a reasonable amount done without all the normal distractions.   I finished just after 5:30 and drove back to Malahide.  Google maps took me on an unusual path via the R107 tonight, presumably to avoid delays on the R132.   But there were a few slow junctions along the way, so I don’t actually think it was any quicker than my normal route.

Most of the evening seems to have been spent eating up more casserole.   I had pork casserole to start with then beef for the main course.   From checking the fridge, I reckon there’s at least another week’s worth to go.   But I’m determined not to let any of it be wasted.

Anyway, I haven’t had any fresh air or exercise at all all day, so I’m going to head out on a short walk before the forecast rain arrives.   Then I’m going to daydream about alternative lifestyles while watching YouTube videos about hiking in sunny warm islands.   Aaah!
