Ireland day 0875. Tuesday 20 February 2024- Board
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
A big day for me today, as I had to present the findings of my last four months work to the Board of the company I have been working for. I was quite apprehensive, I have to admit, as it’s been a while since I last did a Board-level presentation. I was scheduled to join the meeting at 10am and speak for an hour. In the end, I didn’t go in until 10:30 but didn’t get out until 12:30. There were lots of questions, but none too difficult, and there was no blood on the carpet at the end! So I think it was a success, but it’s always difficult to gauge how the audience reacted.
After lunch and saying my goodbyes, I treated myself to a quick wander round the nearby Ikea, and a free cup of coffee courtesy of my loyalty card. The icing on the cake was the Swedish dried onions which bought. I must admit I rather like them as an addition to soup and salads.
So that’s the end of the project to work in a foreign country. I don’t know if I’ll do any more – it’s hard work but very good for keeping your brain in gear. I’m looking forward to some down-time and a bit of a chance to decompress now. With Val’s work pressures also declining a bit, hopefully we will be able to do some more travelling and socialising, with rather less pressure to be rushing off for meetings and work commitments all the time.
But – before we can start that, I have Spanish class tonight and I haven’t done all my homework yet. So tengo que paradar ahora, y hacer mi tarea!
