Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
Today, for her sins, Val was back working at the museum, though it was only a short day so was back in time to join me for a late lunch in mid-afternoon.
I, on the other hand, am slightly confined to base as I’m not sure if I am going to be called on to do any more work for my client before the Board meeting on 20 February. Needless to say, nothing happened today but I used the time productively to have long video catch up calls with friends. The first was with someone who moved to France at about the same time as we moved to Ireland (so we have lots of war stories in common to discuss), and the other a recently retired colleague in London. All very enjoyable and made me realise once again just how important video calling is to us expatriates with globally dispersed family and friends.
Once Val was back and we’d had lunch, we decided to head out and get a bit of fresh air – though by the time we stirred it was more or less completely dark so there was more night than light on our walk over Robswall this evening. Enjoyable nonetheless, then on the spur of the moment we booked ourselves into the Bon Appetit restaurant on James’ terrace here in Malahide, for dinner. It turned out to be unexpectedly enjoyable, and we will definitely go again. A nice way to finish a low-key but enjoyable day.
