Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
For family and friends over in the UK, last night was significant, as the first new government in 14 years was elected. It was a curious result, which became increasingly evident after a morning spent analysing the details. Anyway, good luck to the new incumbents.
Politics aside, we had an enjoyably low key day in Malahide today. First of all, I got our resident Brompton bike unfolded and cleaned up, ready for Val to put on a short ride. She actually got as far as Baldoyle, after calling in at the Museum first, for a catch up with colleagues.
Meanwhile, I pulled on my running gear and headed out to complete the same “walk-run-walk” circuit up Paddy’s Hill that I’ve done a couple of times already. This time I added on an extra loop round the demesne, just to bring up the total distance a little. I’d really like to do more running but because it puts at least three times as much pressure on your hips as walking, I need to be careful. I don’t want my implants to become loose.
So it was quite a sporty day all round, and all the more enjoyable for it. The rest of the afternoon we watched some tennis from Wimbledon then caught up on the final episode of the current series of “The Wire”.
