Ireland day 1200. Friday 10 January 2025- Getting Moving
Today’s summary In the morning, Val went on a run and I dealt with some technical matters then strolled round the demesne, to loosen up after Wednesday’s Sutton fast walk.   Went out for lunch at the Grand Hotel in the afternoon and in the evening Val made a curry
Today’s weather Mostly bright with occasional drizzle.   Moderate south easterly wind.  Appx 5c

Getting moving round the demesne
Commentary

I’ve been taking it relatively easy since my fast walk to Sutton and back on Wednesday, but today I felt that I ought to get out and start moving again.

Before I could do that, I spent some time troubleshooting a problem with one of my eSIMs, and providing feedback to the Locus Maps app developer on some possible areas for development.

While I was doing that, Val went out on a long run (impressive!) then eventually it was my turn to get some exercise.   I had hoped to go on a longer walk, but I was slightly running out of time before lunch, so I elected just to go for a stroll round the demesne instead.

I enjoyed the walk – I didn’t push it as I still feel a bit achey from Wednesday – but it was nice to get going again.   It was still cold, with some frost about, but not quite as harsh as it has been the last couple of days.

Once we were both back at the flat, we decided to celebrate Val’s return from london with a light lunch (basically soup and coffee) at the Grand Hotel.   One of our favourite local go-to haunts.  It’s not perfect and it’s quite expensive, but there is something about it that we both really like.   Today was no exception – a nice easy way to spend an afternoon.

It was dark by the time we left the hotel, so we ambled back to the flat via the supermarket.   Val spent some of the rest of the evening making a curry while I did some planning for later in the year.   The evening was rounded off with a little TV, making for an altogether low-key but very relaxing day.   May there be many more like it!

Cricket pitch not looking too wintery today View through the shrubs to the Model Railway Museum – looking as charming as ever
My new gloves.   Cheap and cheerful but comfortable and warm.   As far as I’m concerned, they do the trick perfectly
