Over the Hill with Guests
Commentary

(The blogs for the next couple of days are going to be a bit shorter than usual, as Val’s sister and her husband are staying with us until Wednesday and I need to spend being a good host!   A few photos and brief details follow)

So – with guests arriving in the early afternoon, the morning was spent making up beds, and doing a last-minute clean and tidy of the flat.   Whilst all this was going one, Val escaped to the tender mercy of the dentists and came back sporting 2 new and somewhat unexpected fillings and €200 less in her wallet.

We picked up our guests from their on-time flight – though to make things easier, I waited in McDonald’s car park (pictured in the banner image at the top) while Val went into the terminal building to meet and greet them.

Back in the flat, we had a light soup-and-a-roll lunch then went out on a walk to the Post Office then round the demesne and over the hill to Portmarnock.   It was good to show off some of our local sights and history to our visitors.   We walked back along the coast and got back just as it was getting dark.

A glass of fizz awaited us once we had settled in, then we headed out to the Greedy Goose for an Irish tapas dinner later on.

All in all a good day and we all enjoyed checking out the history and amenities of Malahide.
