Ireland day 0829. Friday 05 January 2024- Preparation
Today’s summary Went to work at 9 am and had a couple of meetings, then spent a lot of the time in the office preparing for a workshop I am leading next week.  Just time for a little shopping in Malahide when I got back, then a Skype call to a friend in Lancaster and finally picked up Val from the airport early evening
Today’s weather Dry sunny and bright most of the day.   Light to moderate westerly wind.  Appx 7c though rapidly cooled off in the evening

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

There’s not a lot to say about today, actually, so I won’t spend long not saying it.

I had a couple of meetings in the office which started at 10 am and ran on until lunchtime, which meant I had to leave the flat just after 9.   That’s not my preference as I never was an early morning person and have become even less so as I have got older.

Anyway the meetings went well, and I had another over lunch, and then the afternoon was spent preparing for a workshop I’m leading next Tuesday.   It’s amazing just how long it takes to make sure all the slides are in the correct order, and that you’ve got the distribution list right.   Anyway all that was just about finished as it was starting to get dark outside, so I decided to call it a day and come back to the flat.

As soon as I was back, I dashed out again into Malahide to get some sandwiches for tomorrow, then I had an enjoyable hour on a Skype call to a friend back in Lancaster.   No sooner had I signed off from that, than Val texted from the airport saying she had safely returned from her flying visit to London, and was ready to be picked up.

So now she’s back and the flat has resumed its domestic equilibrium.   All that remains for this evening is to pack up the Christmas decorations as it’s twelfth night tomorrow.   It’s sad to see them go but it’s only eleven months until they can come out again!

Today’s photos (click to enlarge)

Watching “The Trip” on Amazon, with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.   One of my favourite lighthearted box-sets.  A nice counterbalance to The Sopranos Looking up New Street from outside the Tesco convenience store
Gibney’s pub – the social centre of Malahide – on the eastern side of New St The Casino, basking in the glow of its festoon lights
Donnybrook Fair is Malahide’s up-market food and deli store.   Interestingly it’s owned by the same group that owns SuperValu (at the other end of the retail spectrum)
