Ireland day 0840. Tuesday 16 January 2024- School for Two
Today’s summary I was at work while Val had a day off.   In the evening, we both went to Portmarnock Community School – me for the first lesson in the next term of Spanish, and Val to start a new two hour Pilates class.   A very worthwhile way to spend an evening
Today’s weather Dry and bright with some sun and a raw wind.   Moderate westerly wind. Frost everywhere this morning.    Appx 4c

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Today the roles which Val and I have been sinking into for the past couple of years got reversed slightly.   First off, it was me working, for once, while she had a day off in the flat.  And then second, this evening, it was her, as well as me, that pottered off to Portmarnock for night school.

My day at work was relatively uneventful.   No high pressure workshops or CEO meetings to contend with today, and a pleasant office atmosphere with friendly colleagues.   A very interesting discussion about domestic solar PV over lunch, too – payback time seems to be about 6 to 7 years.

After work, I drove home, just had time for a delicious risotto that Val had cooked up, then we both collected our things and drove down to Portmarnock Community School for the evening.   For me, it was the start of the next term of Spanish (it’s hard to believe I have been doing it for almost three years now) and now Val has decided to join me at the school for a two hour Pilates session every Tuesday evening.

We both enjoyed our respective evenings in the school – it’s a lovely place and has a wonderful welcoming atmosphere.   And even the Spanish didn’t seem quite as daunting today.   I think I am just starting to get the hang of Objetos Indirectos (me, te, le, la, nos, os, les) which relate to people and Objetos Directos (lo, la, los, las) which relate to things.   Well that’s how it seems at the moment.    Doubtless I will be confused again by next week!

Three years’ worth of accumulated Spanish knowledge.   I wish I could remember just 1% of it!
