(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Today was the third in our series of “cooling off” days. I have to say that I am really enjoying the slightly lazier approach to life – for the time being, at least.

Accordingly, we didn’t rush to get up but once we had satiated our need for cups of tea, we emerged into the day slowly and started to tackle some of the mountain of admin tasks that have accumulated over the last few weeks. I really don’t enjoy admin – especially when it has anything to do with money or tax. But I always find that once you sit down and actually get on with whatever it is that needs doing, things usually aren’t as daunting as you thought they were going to be.

That proved to be the case today, too. So once the tasks were polished off by early afternoon, we decided to reward ourselves with lunch at the Grand Hotel. It’s always reliable, if unspectacular, and after having briefly become exposed to North American prices, not too expensive either.

So we enjoyed our light meals (though I ruined any potential dietary benefits by finishing off with a thick slice of caramel shortbread with ice cream) then in a partial and somewhat half-hearted attempt to offset the calorific damage, we returned to the flat via a leisurely walk round the demesne. An enjoyable amble, and as always there were plenty of people out and about making use of the acres of space – though the cool drizzly weather probably kept some indoors.

There are no concerts tonight, so hopefully we can enjoy a relatively peaceful evening and a couple more episodes of “The Wire” season 2.   Yes, we decided to try it and so far it’s pretty good!
