Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

After last night’s chaos at Heathrow I spent a night in London then decided to avoid airports and take the train and ferry back to Dublin today. The sun was shining and so even the early morning walk across London to get the 7:33 from Euston wasn’t too much of a chore.

I had a couple of hours spare in Holyhead before the ferry so had a look round and found a really nice café in a converted church at the top of the hill where I got some lunch.

The ferry journey itself was straightforward though very busy so lots of queuing for everything. People going over to Ireland for the holiday weekend I guess.

Val’s going to drive down to the port to meet me when I dock – though she’s rather busy dealing with multiple derailments at the model railway museum, and a burst pipe somewhere which seems to have cut off the water supply to the whole of Malahide. Hopefully it will be back on by the time I get to the flat, as I am in serious need of a shower!

Lunch stop at the Ucheldre Centre in Holyhead. It’s a converted church and has a really nice garden out the back. A bit of peace and quiet after the chaos of Heathrow last night.

Last night I tweeted about the situation at Heathrow and ITV News seem to have picked up on it. I am the person who said “Almost all BA flights from T5 cancelled tonight…”. Fame of sorts, even if anonymously (which suits me fine).

Lunch in the garden of the restored church.
