Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

There were some pretty nasty riots in Dublin last night, sadly, so we were asked to work from home today rather than going into the office.   In the event, that worked OK for me as I had four videocalls lined up during the day (three for work, one non-work), which really I could do from anywhere.

I actually found the day quite productive and managed, more or less, to avoid the temptations of cutting my toenails or aimlessly surfing the web.   But I do find it pretty tiring concentrating on a computer screen for so long, and having to think hard, constantly.   It’s easy to get out of the habit and in a funny sort of way I’m quite enjoying having to do it again.

Val wasn’t at the museum today, so she kept herself busy by going on a run, then heading out to her evening job at Wonderlights mid-afternoon.   I finished my last call a couple of hours after she left and by that stage was absolutely desperate to get out of the flat and breathe in some fresh air.   Eventually I did manage to escape, and took myself on a short walk round our favourite Hanlon’s Lane loop, which I livened up a bit by dropping into Tesco to buy a delicious looking sponge cake which was vastly reduced in price.   How could I resist?

Anyway it’s another early start tomorrow, so I need to finish off now, then do a bit of Spanish and get dinner ready.   Next update tomorrow evening!

Today’s photos (click to enlarge)

At the bottom of Old Street.   Malahide looking quite welcoming tonight I’m not particularly a fan of Starbucks but I did think the backlit logo looked quite striking
I do like these winter-lit trees Marina pretty calm tonight.   On windy days, the rigging rattles incessantly on the masts and the noise must drive local residents mad!
The Casino.   In most respects, it’s a pretty good place to live (apart from the noise of the railway station)
There’s a new housing development going on in Hanlon’s Lane and today this big vertical borer appeared.   Perhaps they are installing a ground-source heat pump?
