Ireland day 0802. Saturday 09 December 2023- Recovery1
Today’s summary After an epic nights sleep I got up, and made breakfast then Val went to work.   A bit of shopping and laundry in the morning then made lunch for Val.   She went back to the museum in the afternoon and I went on a walk and did more washing and shopping.   Made dinner ready for when she got back between the museum and Wonderlights.   After she dashed off again, I did more laundry, tidied up, went to Tesco and watched some TV
Today’s weather Stormy and wet in the morning, dried up in the afternoon but still very windy.   Gale force westerly wind.   Appx 9c

Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

It was a role-reversal day today.   Val was out doing a double-shift at work (casino and castle) and I was enjoying the weekend, recovering from my operation.   It was quite nice, actually, to be having a day off thinking about work – I’m not due back until Tuesday.   So although I took things pretty easy, I still seemed to find time to pack quite a lot in.   I slept for the best part of 20 hours yesterday and last night, so I was feeling much perkier today than I was yesterday, which helped a lot

First off, I made a quick breakfast and got Val despatched to work.   Then I sorted out the laundry and got the first of three loads on – it’s amazing how it all piles up when you are both out to work.   And I need clean shirts every day now!   Then I did a little shopping (I’m not supposed to carry too much) and returned to the flat in time to make lunch for us both as Val dropped back from the museum midway through the day and dealing with the wonders of Mrs Claus.

Once she was back to work, I decided to make the best of the fact that it had stopped raining and was still light, and went on a gentle walk round the demesne, with lots of scuffly leaves, followed with a short trip to the chemist and the supermarket.   Once back at the flat, I made dinner for when Val got back en route from Job 1 to Job 2, and also put some more washing on.

Now she’s off to work again, I have been left with task of deciding on our next box set TV viewing.   We finished “Succession” last night (thoroughly good watch, if only to enjoy the awful-ness of the characters) and need something else to follow it up with.   I’ve heard good things about “The Sopranos” so am going to look that one up.   Before that, though, there’s a final load of washing to do, and I’m going to go down to Tesco to see if they have any of their wonderful half price bargains on offer.

So although it sounds like a busy day all round, I’ve really enjoyed it and am so glad to have, hopefully, got the latest medical intervention out of the way.
