Ireland day 0868. Tuesday 13 February 2024- Pancakes
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
A relatively quiet day today, with not a lot to report compared to yesterday’s adventures in the North.
Once we had got up this morning and finished our ablutions, Val heroically went on a run and I walked into town to do some shopping for essentials. I also did a bit of research on a possible holiday for the Autumn and then we decided to treat ourselves to lunch at the Grand Hotel.
I hadn’t really twigged that it was Shrove Tuesday today but the waiter at the hotel quickly reminded us of the significance of the day and wondered if we would like to try their pancake lunch special (unsurprisingly it was the most expensive item on the menu). We decided to give it a go, despite the cost, and really enjoyed it. It would have been a shame to let the occasion pass un-marked.
After lunch, we walked slowly back to the flat, paying a visit to the library to renew a book along the way.
Anyway it’s time to stop now as I still have some more deberes left to do and as the class starts in just over an hour’s time, I better get on with it straight away!
