Ireland day 0607. Sunday 28 May 2023- Stratford 1
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
Yo-yo fashion, it seems, we are back in the UK at the moment for a couple of days for the wedding of the daughter of some friends.
The ceremony itself is tomorrow, just outside Stratford-upon-Avon, and we return to Ireland on Tuesday. So today it was another early start to catch the 0815 Stena line sailing to Holyhead. And by noon, I was back in the place I had left less than 48 hours earlier. But I actually find the ferry voyage quite relaxing especially as, today, the boat was pretty quiet.
Then, once in Anglesey, we dropped into the National Trust property at Plas Newydd for a light lunch and a wander through the (beautiful) gardens – complete with the Heath Spotted Orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata) growing in the meadows, and featured in the banner image above.
Now we are tucked up into our Premier Inn hotel in Stratford, contemplating where to go out for something to eat.
Oh and, yet again, my Apple Watch has failed. This time the screen has gone completely blank and just flashes briefly at me when I try and switch it on or off. Ah well – the box of rice will have to come out again when I get back to Malahide. Technology, it seems, has the capacity to frustrate endlessly.
