(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

First thing this morning, I needed to do a bit of tidying up of my email accounts.   They seem to have been proliferating recently, so I needed to spend a few moments sorting them out.   It will still need some more time behind the keyboard to finish the job, but I made good progress today.   I’ll try and do more tomorrow.   While I was fiddling around online, Val was busy doing  the cooking.   I also put my shoulder briefly to the domestic wheel to do a couple of loads of washing.

After lunch (we finished off the caponata) I went on a quick walk round Hanlon’s Lane, just to get a bit of fresh air after a morning spent on the computer.   Then we dashed out to get the 102 to Swords.   Our destination this afternoon was a matinee performance of the new blockbuster “Oppenheimer” at the Movies @ Swords cinema.

It was an epic but I have to say it had us both gripped from start to finish.   OK some of the sections were a bit amateurish and over-acted, but the overall effect was enthralling.   We sat motionless for the whole three hours.   The lead role, of J Robert Oppenheimer, was played by Irish actor Cillian Murphy, and he must surely be in line for a “Best Actor” Oscar in next year’s Academy Awards.   Overall, we both thought it was worth at least a 9 out of 10 and would highly recommend it.

We were emotionally drained by the time we got back to the flat, so are currently recovering with a beer and some delicious colcannon that Val has rustled up using the cabbage we bought from the market garden at Kilruddery on Friday.   Perhaps we will go and see something a bit lighter next.   “Barbie”, anyone?

I think this is a Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) growing just outside the model railway museum.   But it’s easily confused with Swamp Cypress (Taxodium distichum) so I’m not 100% sure.   The Swamp Cypress seems to have narrower needles, though In Railway Avenue, along the route back from my Hanlon’s Lane walk
Malahide station.   It’s been pretty quiet as it’s a public holiday today The window boxes on the railings above the station are always beautiful and today was no exception
