Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

A relatively quiet day beckoned today, time to catch our breath after this week’s excursions.

Val wanted to check in with her colleagues at the Casino model railway museum this morning.   So while she was there, I spent a couple of hours gym-ing and swimming.   I think we both found our respective activities enjoyable and relatively sociable, too.

Then after a quick sandwich lunch, we headed out to get a bit of fresh air in the breezy afternoon sunshine.   Nothing spectacular – just our usual route up Paddy’s Hill then back down to the coast and back to Malahide along the beach.   But enjoyable nonetheless.

To round off a simple but relaxing day, we had beans on toast and home-made yogurt for dinner, with another glass of that cheap red wine we bought in Armagh.   We’re going to round off our laid-back day with a documentary on Netflix about Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Should certainly be a bit different!

The Grand Hotel looking verdant and floriferous this morning on the way to the gym An unusual form of bushy hydrangea up by the Avoca courtyard
Taking a quick look round Avoca to see if there were any late-evening bargains.  Nothing under a €100 so left empty-handed Over the hill and back down to Lithostrotion beach, with Lambay on the horizon
Looking into the evening sun towards Malahide We disturbed a flock of starlings as we passed the lifeguards’ hut on Malahide beach
Tennis club was in full swing this morning.   A nice sunny day for a quick game of doubles
