Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

It was the fourth and final day of James and Katie’s wedding celebrations today.   I think we all slightly struggled to surface this morning – though the younger wedding-goers popped back with much greater resilience than those of us in the older generation.   They even managed to get up early enough to install a tandem on the roof of their car and transport it back from the wedding venue to Thame!   Meanwhile, Val and I had stayed in a B&B near to Luxter’s Barn and enjoyed a convivial, and more leisurely, breakfast with some of our friends who were staying at the same spot.

The final instalment in the whole chain of events was a lunchtime get-together in Thame.  It had been billed as a barbecue but as it started to rain hard just as proceedings kicked off, plan “B”, which involved indoors tea and cakes, was implemented instead.   Actually it worked quite well, as nobody was feeling like more protein and alcohol after four days!

A final chat with our, and James and Katie’s, friends and then we beat a retreat about 4pm, just counting pour blessings that we had had Saturday’s weather on Saturday, and Sunday’s weather on Sunday, and not the other way round.

So now, finally, we are relaxing a bit, but feeling very happy for James and Katie, and delighted that all the complex arrangements worked so flawlessly.

Rain, rain, rain.   Much better that it fell today rather than yesterday!
Green roof (sedum) on the shed in Thame.   It’s loving the wet weather
