(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Today was very enjoyable – partly, I think, because neither of us tried to do too much.

So we had our customary cup(s) of tea in bed, then once we were up and running, Val drove down to Portmarnock for a swimming lesson and I walked into Malahide to get a much needed haircut.

After the haircut, feeling a good decade younger, I walked over the hill to meet up with Val at Dunnes supermarket to do the shopping. She had very much enjoyed her lesson and will probably do some more. I meanwhile was feeling buoyed up by my haircut so we did the shopping with a bit of a spring in our collective steps.

Lunch back at the flat was skippers (fish, a bit like small sardines) on Val’s toasted home made bread followed by Val’s home made iced buns. Needless to say it was all delicious.

After lunch and spending a few minutes thinking about plans for the rest of the summer, Val decided she’s got the culinary bug so decided to do a bit more cooking I, meanwhile, went out to do a repeat of my walk-run-walk fitness training. I found the uphill run quite hard work and it’s sobering how much fitness I have lost (and weight gained) since my last peak in 2020.

All in all, a nice relaxing day, rounded off with a couple of episodes of “The Wire” on Netflix in the evening.

The new loos on the Coast Road are taking shape quickly.   The former solid concrete structures – which were basically fine but just needed a good spring-clean – appear to have been replaced by a set of Portakabins.  All a bit puzzling Top of Paddy’s Hill – a welcome sight having just slogged my wayup at a brisk jog
