Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
I had a flight back to Dublin at 12:10 this afternoon but as it was the London Marathon today, I thought I better leave central London in plenty of time, in case there were delays on the transport network en route. As it happened, there weren’t so I got to Gatwick with two hours to spare. Security was very quick, too (apart from the inevitable hip questions) so I had plenty of time to enjoy a coffee and croissant in Pret before taking to the skies.
The flight was prompt and actually arrived in Dublin a few minutes early. I sped through the e-gates at Immigration, relieved that my new passport worked properly (though it did take a couple of goes to get it into the scanner the right way round).
As soon as I got back to the flat, because the sun was shining and it was actually not freezing cold, I decided to sit on the balcony for a moment or two to enjoy a cup of tea. Once refreshed and unpacked (the later took about 2 minutes as I travel ultra-light these days), I headed out through the demesne, over Paddy’s Hill, and down to the coast at Portmarnock. It’s one of my favourite walks and today in the spring sunshine and with all the plants and flowers bursting into life, it was particularly enjoyable.
So now I have a free evening, as Val isn’t back until Tuesday, I’m going to pull together a healthy salad (!) and find some hiking vlogs to watch on YouTube. Preferably taken in warm sunny places.
