Ireland day 0846. Monday 22 January 2024- Pressing On
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
Val had a day off work today, which she put to good use doing a bit of gardening just outside our block of flats. She decided to have a go at tidying up the hellebore bed – which was in need of a bit of T.L.C., and won her the admiration of plenty of our neighbours. Very public spirited and the flower bed looks lovely now.
I, on the other hand, had to go back to the office again. In readiness for my next meeting with the CEO, on Wednesday, I wanted to prepare a presentation which we could use to structure the discussion. It sounds so easy when your boss says “Oh, just pull a few slides together” but it took me all day to do it and in the end I only had 14. Well hopefully that will be enough to get us going and give us something to talk about.
The builders were in the office again today and they told me I’d have to leave by 5:30 as they were going to “re-screed” the floor this evening. This explains why they have been drilling it so enthusiastically for the last few weeks, and I had no hesitation in packing my things and heading for the car park. I didn’t particularly spending the night stranded on on an Aeron chair island in sea of wet concrete.
Once home, I did a bit more Spanish prep for the lesson tomorrow, then Val took me to the garden to inspect her handiwork on the hellebores. We followed on with a short walk down Texas Lane to the coast, and after an eating-up dinner of roast lamb and Thai curry, watched another episode of the Sopranos before retiring for an early(-ish) night.
