Ireland day 0846. Monday 22 January 2024- Pressing On
Today’s summary I was at work and Val had a day off which she spent attending to the hellebore bed outside our flats.   I managed to get a draft of the presentation I have to give to the CEO on Wednesday finished, which was a relief.   Roast lamb and Thai curry leftovers for dinned tonight (delicious) and a quick walk down Texas Lane and some Sopranos later
Today’s weather Blustery showers and occasional watery  sun.   Strong westerly wind.  Feeing cooler than yesterday at appx 7c

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Val had a day off work today, which she put to good use doing a bit of gardening just outside our block of flats.   She decided to have a go at tidying up the hellebore bed – which was in need of a bit of T.L.C., and won her the admiration of plenty of our neighbours.   Very public spirited and the flower bed looks lovely now.

I, on the other hand, had to go back to the office again.   In readiness for my next meeting with the CEO, on Wednesday, I wanted to prepare a presentation which we could use to structure the discussion.   It sounds so easy when your boss says “Oh, just pull a few slides together” but it took me all day to do it and in the end I only had 14.   Well hopefully that will be enough to get us going and give us something to talk about.

The builders were in the office again today and they told me I’d have to leave by 5:30 as they were going to “re-screed” the floor this evening.   This explains why they have been drilling it so enthusiastically for the last few weeks, and I had no hesitation in packing my things and heading for the car park.   I didn’t particularly spending the night stranded on on an Aeron chair island in sea of wet concrete.

Once home, I did a bit more Spanish prep for the lesson tomorrow, then Val took me to the garden to inspect her handiwork on the hellebores.   We followed on with a short walk down Texas Lane to the coast, and after an eating-up dinner of roast lamb and Thai curry, watched another episode of the Sopranos before retiring for an early(-ish) night.

Today’s photos (click to enlarge)

Val’s Hellebore bed.   You can’t see it perfectly in this night mode shot but I can assure you that in real life it looked pretty good! Val the gardener out with me for an evening inspection of the estate (a housing estate, that is, not ours)
Moonlight – and less wind than yesterday means the tree has actually stayed in focus this evening
My healthy lunch at work today.   At least the bread is brown!
