Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

After the last three very busy days, it was a relief to have a bit of a lie-in this morning, and not to have to rush off at the crack of dawn.

But Val and I did have an activity planned for later in the day – a club walk round Waterstone Park, in Palmerstown, this afternoon.   So once we were up and running, we fired up the Trusty Yaris and drove down to Clongriffin to pick up one of our friends, then drove round the M50 to our rendezvous point at the Palmerston House pub.

We kicked off the proceedings with the obligatory coffee and croissant in the Coach House café, then started our stately progression round the park.   It was a beautiful day to begin with (though it clouded over and rained a little towards the end).   The new foliage was vivid green, and against the blue sky the park and Liffey looked stunning.

We paused part way round for lunch then finished up – surprise surprise – in the Palmerston House pub for drinks at the end.

A swift drive back round the motorway via Clongriffin saw us back in Malahide well before 6pm.   We rounded off a good outing and an altogether excellent last few days with a Thai takeaway from “Siam” restaurant and a relaxing couple of hours watching mindless American TV on Netflix.

Very elaborate bug hotel! Ruined 18th century farmhouse in Watertown park.   Partially restored by South Dublin County Council in 2022
Down by the Liffey.   Looking verdant and tranquil down there today.   Fabulous
