Ireland day 0904. Wednesday 20 March 2024- London Day 4
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
We are still both in London and had quite a productive day today.
Val’s top priority was to visit her old dentist for a long-overdue checkup. She was apprehensive as she hadn’t been since before we went to Ireland, but fortunately all was in good order.
My main objective was to meet up with some former Government colleagues at a restaurant in Islington. I took the no 38 bus up there, and of course sat upstairs close to the front, to get the best view. I hadn’t seen my friends for over a year so once we had all turned up at the restaurant, there was lots of catching up to do. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
After lunch, I took the tube down to Oxford Street to buy some socks – as I hadn’t remembered to bring enough over from Ireland. Then I headed on down to the Apple Store (again) in Covent Garden, to try and get a new case for my phone. The old one is a bit battered and it looks like I might be able to get a new one under consumer protection legislation. They didn’t have he right one in stock but at least they were able to order it. It should be delivered in a few days’ time.
We had a light dinner, then watched a bit of TV, and then walked up to St Pauls in the evening. Another nice day.
