Ireland day 0765. Thursday 02 November 2023- Big Meeting
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
Fortunately, our part of Ireland has been spared the worst of Storm Ciaran’s attention. It was a bit breezy and wet last night, but nothing out of the ordinary. Other parts of the British Isles don’t seem to have escaped so lightly though. We count ourselves lucky this time.
Anyway, weather worries aside, after a quite and enjoyable catch up with family in the UK this morning, my main activity of the day (and indeed of the week, really) was a meeting with the potential customer who I might be doing some consultancy work for. Their offices are just a short drive away so I spent the morning doing as much prep work as I could, as I was scheduled to meet the CEO and I didn’t want to appear clueless!
The meeting itself was quite tough – plenty of difficult questions – and it’s hard to judge how it went. The company will let me know tomorrow if they want to take things any further, so for the time being I’ll just have to wait and see.
Val’s been busy at work today, too, so now that she’s back we have just spent a happy half hour dealing with some tax matters related to the sale of our UK house and now are going to treat ourselves to a takeaway Thai dinner. I do hope that afterwards we will be able to get out for some fresh air, but at the moment the rain and drizzle seems to be conspiring against us. Let’s hope for a drier interlude later this evening, or else it’s Netflix again for us!
