Ireland day 0666. Wednesday 26 July 2023- UK Wedding 01
Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
After a long but straightforward drive down from Dublin yesterday, and then a decent bottle of red wine yesterday evening, I woke up this morning with that sort of sore head feeling you get when you know you could really do with another six hours sleep. But that wasn’t on offer today, as there was a long list of jobs to be done this morning – a couple of admin visits, and some domestic electrical repairs. Of course everything was five times as difficult as it should have been, but eventually I did manage to get most of the things fixed that I had wanted to.
So we headed into town a little later to celebrate our minor triumphs over the chores with a coffee and rather nice almond croissant at a local café. Once we’d enjoyed our relaxing interlude, we finished off our tasks, had a light lunch, welcomed a family member back from the other side of the Atlantic, then drove over to meet up with the rest of the family. The remainder of the afternoon was spent cutting the grass and various other tasks to help with the preparations for the imminent wedding. It was all very enjoyable and productive.
By the time we had finished, it was pouring with rain so we bade our farewells and drove back through roads which were rapidly transforming from merely very wet, to flooded. But the UK had a very dry spring so in general terms, the rain is greatly needed. Though perhaps not quite so much, all at once. The forecast for tomorrow and the weekend is, though, looking somewhat drier. Fingers crossed!
