Ireland day 0553. Tuesday 04 April 2023- Out and about
Today’s summary A relatively quiet day today.   Val was off work so we took a short walk round the demesne, did a bit of shopping, then I had a video call to Houston, and went to Spanish in the evening.
Today’s weather Dry and bright with long sunny spells in the afternoon.   Moderate south easterly wind.   Appx 12C

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

After yesterday’s longish day of travelling, we decided to plan a much lower-key day today.

So after a cup of tea in bed, we go up, had some breakfast, I did dome hoovering, then we both headed outside for a short walk.   We followed our normal route round the perimeter of the demesne, then went on up the Bawn and over the Church Road hill into town.   I always go to the supermarket “just” planning to buy a carton of milk, and end up coming away having bought far more than I had expected.   Today was no exception, so we staggered back to the flat from SuperValu with lettuces, biscuits, bread, olive oil and yogurt, as well as the milk that we had gone in there actually to buy.

Anyway once we had dragged our haul back to the flat, we had a quick light lunch and then I dialled in to a video call with my friend over in Houston.  Having exchanged respective updates (and his were somewhat more revelatory than mine as he has just got married, for the second time) I decided to revise some of my Spanish.   It’s back to classes tonight and I want to be at least partly on top of el pretérito perfecto tense. Though I have to say I am fining it pretty tough going at the moment.

Perhaps it will become easier with time and practice.

Setting out on our short walk – still feeling quite cold, before the sun came out. Groundsman hard at work preparing the cricket pitch for the new season
Sinuous perimeter path, dappled in sunshine On the south side of the demesne, with the castle lurking in the trees at the left
Camellias at their very best on Church Road.   The flowers tend to go brown if they get frost on them – this specimen seems to have escaped so far
