Another day off work for Val and no specific plans in the diary gave us a clear run at the day.

After a leisurely morning listening to some podcasts, we decided to head out to Ikea – not just to pick up a couple of new bedside tables, but also to enjoy a reasonably healthy Scandi-Nordi(!) lunch.   So we scooted round to Ballymun in the trusty Yaris and made it to Ikea and the café in time to find it busy with families and children on mid-term break.   It seems like shopping is a bit of a leisure activity and Ikea an ideal theme park to entertain the younger members.   Anyway it’s huge so we found a quiet spot to enjoy our gravadlax and even managed to blag a free coffee courtesy of the Ikea app I downloaded over lunch.

Once the huger pangs had been dealt with, we headed into the innards of the shop (and I have to admit I do quite like the way it’s laid out), found the tables we needed (a bargain at €15 each I thought) and headed for the exit.   But not without first picking up innumerable bits and pieces along the way that we never knew we needed until we saw them.

Our hardware shopping complete, we returned to Malahide via Tesco to do the grocery shopping, and Applegreen to fill up with petrol.   Finally back in the flat, we had a light tea then I spent a happy(!) hour assembling the bedside tables we had bought.   To my relief the process was quite straightforward and none of the bits were missing.   Now it’s time to do a bit of Spanish then to see if there’s a new box set on Netflix that we can become addicted to over the next few nights.

Today’s photos (click to enlarge)

It all looks so simple… …actually it wasn’t too hard to put together (there were two of them – one for each side of the bed).   I think they look ok.   Simple and cheap, but they do the job.
Tesco Swords.   This was actually the first place we stepped out of the car and set foot on Irish soil way back in September 2021.   It already feels like a lifetime ago
Healthy lunch!   (Well maybe, if you ignore the jelly)
