A slightly different day today.   Started off with a fitting for a suit that I am having made at Paul Henry tailoring in Strand Street.   Then a bit of shopping in Marks and Spencers for some socks, and then over the Liffey to the National Gallery of Ireland for lunch in the café and a quick look round the exhibits (we had previously been in 2021 soon after we arrived but wanted to give them another examination today).   Some excellent artworks.

Then back to the Royal Irish Academy in Dawson St for a panel discussion on Irish tax policy.   It was led by Prof Niamh Maloney – a Director of the Central Bank of Ireland – and the discussion covered the interesting topic of “How can taxation be applied as a tool for social good in Ireland”.   A fascinating debate and it was great to have the opportunity for a more detailed discussion with Prof Maloney – and a representative from the Polish Embassy –  over drinks in the reception afterwards.

Got a DART back from Heuston afterwards and seemed to be in the flat in next to no time.

Still Life 2013-2016 (Yellow Version)” – a continuously projected photographic artwork by Irish artist James Coleman.   Although a bit abstract, it was projected onto the wall of a room that otherwise was completely black, so it was very effective.   The projection was about 2m high
