Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

We returned to the Glen of the Downs today to repeat the walk up to Kindlestown Hill (where the iron Age fort may or may not be) then down through the woods to the La Touche Octagon.   But this time it was a walk for the full club, and Val was able to join us for the first time since last October.

As per the recce we did ten days ago, we started out with refreshments in the Glenview hotel beforehand (I tried to resist the scones but couldn’t) then headed up the hill for a picnic lunch on the top.   Then an exploration of the woods and the Octagon viewpoint / summer house before returning to the hotel for more refreshments via Ballydonagh Lane.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable and sociable outing, as ever, and the mild, calm and sunny weather made it even more so.

Once we got back, Val had to dash straight back out for a pub crawl(!) with work colleagues round Malahide this evening, so I used the time to practice Spanish and do a bit of reading.
