Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
Val away all day in the UK en route to Austria. I spent the day mostly in the flat though briefly went to the dentist at lunchtime just to check that the root canal treatment I had before Christmas had actually worked. Verdict was very positive – all good and infection cleared up.
In the remaining time, I did yet more paperwork (tax of course) and then processed another kilo of Sevilles into marmalade. Despite altering all the variables I could think of, I’m still not getting a good set. Perhaps the fruit just don’t have much pectin? I also made some mixed seed bread (from a packet, from Tesco)), and it turned out very well. In the evening, while the dough was rising, I took a walk in the drizzle up to the Broadmeadow lagoon and back along the shore. Very invigorating!
So despite the slight disappointment with the marmalade, overall I’d rate the day as a success.
