Ireland day 0470. Wednesday 11 January 2023- Doolin Return
Today’s summary Returned from Doolin in mid-afternoon after a day keeping out of the rain and enjoying relaxing in the cottage.   Val drove back and we were in Malahide by mid-evening.   An excellent and thoroughly enjoyable, if wet, mini break
Today’s weather Rained most of the night then showery in the morning.   Continuous rain resumed around lunchtime.   No sun.   Many of the fields were becoming flooded by the time we left.   Moderate to strong south westerly wind.   Appx 9C

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Raining again when we awoke (late – in my case!).

So we had a leisurely morning reading and tidying up the cottage prior to our departure.  Made a late breakfast / early lunch then it was still raining so we decided against our planned walk down to the harbour.   We chilled out a bit more in the house then decided to head back to Malahide about 4pm.

Grey-and-brown saturated scenes in every direction.   A very straightforward journey (Val drove) despite the continuous rain.   Stopped for fuel near Athlone, then were back in the flat by 8pm.

Just considering options for dinner now, and going to enjoy a West Coast beer in memory of our excellent, memorably wet, and very relaxing mini-break

Driving home (from the passenger seat!).   Once you leave the M18, it’s quite a winding road, but usually pretty quiet and only takes about 40mins.   Quite scenic through the Burren and along the coast
