Ireland day 0534. Thursday 16 March 2023- Settling Back
Today’s summary After the boiler had been serviced at 10am, it was a mostly quiet day, recovering from our epic journey to and from the UK.   A short walk in the morning was, at 3km, actually the longest I have managed since my operation
Today’s weather Dry and bright after a wet night.   Light southerly wind.   Appx 13C.   A lovely day.

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Our first full day back in Ireland after our longest (and most eventful) trip away.  So we took it very easy and indeed might have succumbed to the temptation to stay in bed till lunchtime had it not been for the arrival of the gas boiler repair man at 10 am to do a scheduled service.

Once he’d gone, we resumed our leisurely progress through the morning and headed off into town to get some stamps at the Post Office, visit the Library to renew some books, and then complete a circuit of our favourite Hanlon’s Lane walk via the Marina.   At over 3km, it was a good 50% longer than my longest post-op walk to date.   Woo-hoo!

We were both quite tired after our short sojourn so after lunch (re-heated Thai takeaway left over from last night) relaxed for a couple of hours again in the afternoon then dragged ourselves out to the shops to get some tea.   Now its time to relax a bit more then probably an early night calls.   Why is life so tiring at the moment?!

Advance notice of the Malahide St Patrick’s Day parade at 2pm tomorrow The Carnegie Library.   needed to drop in this afternoon to renew some books.
Lonesome tree on the shore promenade near the Green, looking north to the Portrane peninsula The cool weather while we were away means that the daffodils are still going strong (but still, I reckon, a month ahead of the UK)
Malahide Marina this afternoon looking a bit more Monaco-like than it has done for several months lately
The boiler.   Now all good to go – and providing an excellent incentive to get up before the service man arrived
