Ireland day 0462. Tuesday 03 January 2023- Progress?
Today’s summary Val wasn’t at work until mid afternoon so we had a leisurely morning, breakfast in bed and a short walk on the beach.   While Val was at work in the afternoon, I worked on tax, repaired my jeans, and made dinner.  Some progress on many fronts today.
Today’s weather Very mild and wet with no sun.   Heavy rain in the morning then showery later.   Strong south westerly wind.   Appx 12C

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Val wasn’t working (up at the castle) until mid-afternoon so we decadently started the day with a cooked breakfast in bed (“Finest” full Irish – comprising white pudding, black pudding, sausages and bacon reduced to €1 for the lot at Tesco).

Then I had some admin matters to deal with – mostly tax – but also more importantly, courtesy of a friend in the walking club, I think I might have discovered a shop in Dublin selling Seville oranges. I will follow up tomorrow.

We took a short walk down to the beach after breakfast, and picked up some shopping on the way back.  Then while Val was at work in the evening, I repaired some jeans which had developed a hole in the knees.   I have no idea if these iron-on repair patches are any good but I will give them a try and see.   Then I prepared dinner for later tonight when Val’s back.   It’s some of the beef casserole I made a few weeks ago and froze, so a nice easy option.

Despite being mostly fairly sedate, it did feel as if a bit of progress was made today, on both tax and oranges – and repairs.

Today’s photos (click to enlarge)

The salmon of knowledge, on the coast path  Lambay Island is still there.   Floating alluringly, as ever, on the horizon beyond the Malahide estuary
No idea if this will work or not – but two patches only cost €3 so even if they only last a few weeks, they will have been worth it
Doing out best to look good down on the beach.   Val has clearly managed it, but I still feel as though I am suffering a bit from the after effects of my pre-Christmas cold
