Ireland day 0441. Tuesday 13 December 2022- When I’m 64
Today’s summary My sixty-fourth birthday.  Val had a special banner made in Irish to celebrate the event.   During the day while she was at work, I hoovered and tidied the flat.   then in the evening after calls with family to mark the occasion, we went to the Greedy Goose restaurant in Malahide for dinner.   Very nice.
Today’s weather A bit milder so most of the snow at sea level started to melt.   A little sun but stronger wind which dispelled yesterday’s fog.   Moderate easterly wind.   About 4C.

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

It was my birthday so Val treated me to breakfast in bed and somehow secretly managed to decorate our bedroom in spectacular fairy lights to welcome in the big day.

She also somehow managed to get the Irish birthday bunting in the banner image secretly made by a seamstress in Donabate.  It says “Lá breithe sona” which, of course, means “Happy Birthday!”.  I was very touched by it all.

She was at work during the day so I did a bit of hoovering (the flat was getting a bit grubby!) then went to the gym and had a swim.   In the evening I opened my presents and cards (thanks everyone!) and then when Val was back from work I spoke to the family dotted around the world.

Afterwards, Val and I went to the Greedy Goose in Malahide for dinner of Irish tapas fusion.  Very nice, actually!.  All in all an extremely nice day and it was good to know that I am still needed and fed, even though I am sixty four

In the Greedy Goose.   Really enjoyed it. One of my best birthday presents.   A jigsaw map of the 32 counties of Ireland.   An ideal way of learning them all and remembering which goes where!
And even a specially printed birthday card to mark the occasion!   Thanks guys!
