Today’s summary Val had a free day so we went into Dublin to go to lunch at the “Chez Max” restaurant.   very enjoyable.   Then in the afternoon, went to the Irish Film Institute and on the spur of the minute watched the film “Aftersun”.   We gave it 3* out of 5.
Today’s weather Rain showers with a lot of cloud and occasional brighter spells.   Strong westerly wind.   Feeling raw in the damp wind at appx 7C.

Val had another day completely free of work, so we had a leisurely morning again then went in to Dublin in the early afternoon.

For lunch we decided to try out a French bistro type place (Chex Max), that I had noticed outside the entrance to Dublin Castle in one of my wanderings round the city.   We really enjoyed it – felt like a “proper” Parisian Café.  Steak and chips were very satisfying.   Not cheap though at €100 for the two of us, but that seems to be the going rate for any meal for 2 here at the moment.

We dropped in to the Irish Film Institute on our way home, just to see what was going on, and on the spur of the moment we went to see “Aftersun” – a newly released and highly acclaimed BBC film.   It was quite good but we both agreed it was a bit pretentious in some of the devices it used and we concluded it would get 3* out of 5 from us.

The notorious Malahide railway bridge.   last night Iarnród Éireann resumed their particularly noisy drilling operations which lasted for three hours from 1:30 am.   In the end I gave up trying to sleep and just read my book for a few hours.   Oh please just let it stop. Coming off the Ha’penny Bridge and into the Temple Bar through the Merchants Arch
Café gourmand.   It was actually very good Another of our favourite haunts (beside Decathlon).   The IFI this afternoon
