Ireland day 1529. Friday 05 December 2025- Battling On
Commentary
One of the side effects of only sleeping for four hours a night is that you have an awful lot of waking hours to fill. So 2 o’clock this morning saw me reading F Scott Fitzgerald until I finally fell asleep again a few hours later. I’m reading “The Rich Boy” which seems quite interesting, although written in a very convoluted style.
I was still feeling under the weather today. This Illness, combined with rotten weather outside, didn’t make me feel inclined to go out anywhere. Though I did give myself a treat with a trip to the bins. Ever decreasing circles.
The day seemed to pass quite slowly and for a while I actually felt a bit bored. That’s unusual for me and I do hope it passes soon. I did however contribute something worthwhile to the domestic agenda by finishing off the Christmas cards. I’ll try and get to the An Post office tomorrow to send them off, circumstances permitting.
By six pm I realised I hadn’t eaten yet so although I didn’t feel particularly hungry, I thought it would probably be a good idea to make a meal. So I reheated some of the beef casserole I made on Monday and had that, rounded off by (of all things) some porridge. Well – it was just what I felt like.
Next on the agenda is to finish off the film I was watching last night on Netflix. I’d wanted to see “Knives Out” for some time, as it stars Daniel Craig and gets quite good reviews. But I hadn’t even got half way through it yesterday when I got fed up and turned it off. Anyway the Dawsons aren’t quitters, as they say, so I’m determined to finish it come what may, and that’s my task for this evening. I’ll report my thoughts more fully in this blog tomorrow, but on first impressions, I think my recommendation would be to give it a miss.
