Ireland day 1227. Thursday 06 February 2025- Day In
Today’s summary Spent the morning doing some admin work with Val, then after a sandwich lunch, she went on a run and I had an online Spanish lesson.   Afterwards, I went on a short walk and then we watched some Amazon TV in the evening
Today’s weather Clear bright and sunny with unbroken blue skies all day.   Light south easterly wind.   Appx 8c

Today, actually, was a pretty quiet day.   I awoke with a hangover – too much red wine was drunk last night to celebrate Val’s return!   So I was a bit slower to get going, and the hangover combined with a general desire to wind down a bit after a lot of rushing over the last couple of weeks meant that we both aimed to have a quiet morning today.   As it happened, there was quite a lot of admin to be caught up on, so the first few hours of the day were spent quite productively dealing with all that.

We had a light sandwich lunch then after a brief pause, Val went out on a run while did something slightly novel.   I dialled into an online Spanish lesson with a tutor in the Canary Islands for a half hour lesson.   I had been given the session free-of-charge in return for answering a questionnaire a few weeks ago.   I quite enjoyed it and much to my surprise, I could understand most of what the tutor was saying.   We spoke solely in Spanish for the full half-hour.   Obviously, it was a bit of a sales pitch and I don’t know if I will do any more.  But very worthwhile anyway.

Once that was finished and Val was back from her run, I decided I needed to get out for a few minutes’ fresh air.   So I headed off down Hanlon’s Lane for a quick wander round the Marina.   It was a beautiful evening – cold but clear and with a stunning sunset.

Well – that just about wraps up the day.   Time to reheat some of the lamb left over from yesterday, then settle down to a film on Amazon.   I think Val has something in mind, but for me at this stage it’s just wait-and-see!

I ordered this small strap (the black triangular-looking thing) for my rucksack.   It came in this ridiculously huge box, and was shipped all the way from Germany.   Seems like slight overkill to me.   I small envelope would have been fine! The new house on Hanlon’s Lane, which I have christened the shoebox, seems to be pretty much finished.   But the rest of the site is still under development and I think it’s going to be quite a long time before it’s all finished
Lots of gulls and swans gliding around in the corner of the lagoon – must be plenty to eat at the moment! The Marina was quiet this evening – as it almost always is
