Christmas shopping.   You can’t have too much of a good thing, it seems.

So the shops beckoned again – for the umpteenth time – today.   I really don’t know how we managed to fit in all this shopping in the past, when we were both at work full time.  Anyway, I’m developing coping strategies, and am quite enjoying using it as an excuse to have a look inside some of the shops of Dublin that I haven’t been in before.

So after our regulation cups of tea this morning, we wandered down to the station and caught a timely DART over to Pearse station.   From there we took a circuitous walk through the south Dublin shopping area – via several diversions – to end up at Russell and Bromley, a shoe shop on Grafton Street.   From there, we couldn’t resist having a look at Brown Thomas, which was elegant as ever, but absolutely mobbed.   I hate to think what it will be like on Saturday.   Remind me not to try and find out.   While there, we had to stop in the café, of course, for lunchtime refreshments.

Continuing our travels, we went on to the Lululemon and Muji stores, then made our way, circuitously once more, back to Pearse.   As luck would have it, a fast diesel to Malahide came through after only a few minutes, so we were back in the flat speedily without having to hang around for ages on the freezing nightmare that is Connolly platform six.

Now we’re back, the evening looks like shaping up in a familiar pattern – Kerrigan’s stir fry, then some “Fat Friends” and “Black Doves” on Netflix.   That suits me just fine!

The former site of the Kildare Street Club at 1 Kildare Street, now occupied by Alliance Francaise.   It was built in about 1782 We dropped into the Royal Irish Academy as we passed through Dawson Street, just to have a look at the programme of talks for next year (and because it’s just a very nice place to visit)
The arcade joining Dawson Street to the back of Grafton Street.   Never been down it before, I don’t think, so took a look today.   A few interesting boutiquey shops down there. On the way back after our shopping, we dropped into the National Library of Ireland – as much as anything just to have a look around
