Ireland day 1150. Thursday 21 November 2024- Paddington
Commentary
Some days you really want to give your brain a bit of a rest, and today felt like one of those days.
We started off as we meant to go on, with a cup of tea, then I joined a video call with family while Val went out on her now-customary morning run around the demesne. She was still out when I finished the call, so I decided to make a start on my Spanish homework. It was hard, once again, but I’ve got a few days to finish off the five exercises we’ve been given. I’m glad that Christmas is coming up, as I feel like I need a bit of a break from languages.
Eventually, Val reappeared from the chilly wasteland outside, and once she’d showered and we’d had a coffee, we decided a nice lightweight film would be in order. So we trotted over to the bus stop and caught the 102 to Swords, aiming to see one of the many concurrent screenings of the current go-to blockbuster “Paddington goes to Peru” at the “Movies @ Swords” cinema.
The busyduly came and we were in the Pavilions shopping centre seemingly in no time. The film, as you might expect from the title, was extremely lightweight. But we both really enjoyed it and it was just what we felt we both needed. Especially for me, as I used to be quite a fan of the Paddington Bear books at primary school.
After the film, we did a bit of shopping at the giant on-site Dunnes. I needed to pick up some Spanish delicacies for our end-of-term party next week – and they had quite a good selection. The 102 turned up promptly afterwards, and we were soon back in the flat, boosting the central heating against the cold, and getting the beef stir fry in the oven ready for dinner.
So now it’s time to serve up and enjoy Kerrigan’s Best, then get the TV going for tonight’s viewing. We’ve just started watching the Netflix drama “The Perfect Couple” (spoiler alert – they aren’t) which is both enjoyable and entertaining.
That’s all for now – back tomorrow!
