Commentary
(Summary blog only. Last full blog was Day 0368).
After the excitement of Kerry over the weekend and the rather less exciting developments of yesterday, I think we were both quite glad to have a quieter day today. I’m definitely supposed to be taking things easier than normal and am still waiting for the antivirals to kick in. The shingles rash is spreading a bit and getting more prominent but I’m hoping it has reached peak unpleasantness now and will at least stabilise. It’s not too painful, and I managed to get a decent night’s sleep after taking some paracetamol.
I started the day with a video chat with a friend in the UK – we spent most of the time talking about mobile phones – but as he had also suffered from shingles a few years ago, he was able to offer some sympathy (I will take all I can get!).
Once that was finished, we had a late brunch. I am allowing myself no fewer than TWO croissants – after all invalids need building up – and a cup of coffee to get the day going. As soon as we’d finished eating, we thought that it would be a good idea to get some fresh air. It certainly perked me up yesterday, so we decided we would do the same again today. So a quick canter through the demesne and up Seamount took us to the top of Paddy’s Hill. From there we dropped down to the coast road and strolled back via the Post Office and SuperValu.
Well, that was our day in a nutshell, really. Once we got back, we had a delicious salmon salad for late lunch (thanks again Val!) and I attacked some of the undiminished pile of paperwork while Val had a chat with one of her friends back in the UK. Left over roast chicken from yesterday was enjoyed for dinner, followed by an episode of the second series on “The Hour”. So that was that. Another quiet-ish day tomorrow, no doubt, but I’m just focusing on getting better and am not bored yet!
