Commentary

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

We’re currently enjoying a quiet few days based in Malahide, and making the most of the decent weather while it lasts.

So today was a bit like yesterday. After a brief trip into town, I spent the rest of the morning working on GPX files for some walks were hoping to do in the coming months. Val was busy in the kitchen and has cooked up a rather delicious looking vegetarian dinner for us to enjoy tonight. I think we both felt better after getting on top of jobs that had been hanging over us for a while.

After a quick lunch, I resisted the temptation to have a snooze and instead got my training shoes on and headed up on my favourite walk through the demesne and up the hill. But rather than going straight down to Portmarnock from the top of Paddy’s Hill, I explored a grassy path round the margin of Robswall Park that I hadn’t been on before. It made a nice alternative to my normal route, and opened up some new perspectives over to the coast and Lambay Island.

Soon after I got back from my walk, Val announced that she was also in need of exercise, so she jumped on the Brompton and cycled over to Baldoyle and back. Admirable!

The rest of the evening is to be spent enjoying the vegetarian (aubergine) dinner that Val made, then watching the Olympics as it begins to draw to a close.

A good day all round.

The Casino museum – it always looks lovely.   Notice how the thatched roof has faded in colour in the three years we have been here On the “new” path at the back of Paddy’s Hill
Looking over to Lambay from the “new” path On the coast – a beautiful day for the beach, and plenty were out and about enjoying the sun this afternoon
My favourite tree!   The Sequoia up in the Demesne – always looks good
