(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Val headed out to work bright and early today. She was armed with her healthy lunch but remarked afterwards that although healthy it was possibly slightly lacking in calories (I thought that was one of the points of being “heathy”). So the next instalment will need a bit of bulking up – a plate of chips will probably be called for.

Once she was off and I’d done a bit of Spanish practice, I did the shopping then prepared a chicken casserole for tonight’s dinner. After that, I dropped round to the gym for a quick blast then returned just as Val was getting home from work.

But the highlight of the day was a trip this evening to the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, in the smart Ballsbridge district of south Dublin. Tonight’s topic was “Ireland’s Weather and Climate: A Journey Through Time”, and it was delivered by Evelyn Cusak, head of forecasting at Met Éireann. It was an excellent presentation, brilliantly delivered, and a great reminder of how important good communication is in bringing complex scientific topics to life for diverse non technical audiences.

All in all a great evening, the only downside being the long cold wait for the DART back to Malahide afterwards.
