Ireland day 0404. Sunday 06 November 2022- AnnamoeDWC
Today’s summary Val had an evening work commitment so I went on my own with a friend to do a circular Club walk up to the Gossan Stones from Trooperstown and back via Annamoe.  Feeling very mild and non-Autumnal, despite the abundance of fungi
Today’s weather Looked like it would rain at any moment for much of the day but it actually stayed mostly fine with even a few brief glimpses of sun.   Light southwesterly wind.   About 13C

(Summary blog only.   Last full blog was Day 0368).

Got a lift with a friend early this morning to Laragh in time for refreshments in the excellent Glendalough Green café.   Then 14 of us from the DWC completed a circular walk from the Trooperstown car park (near the mountain rescue centre) up the slops of Scarr as far as the Gossan Stones then across to the Wicklow Way for lunch at the Brusher Gap hut.

Descended down to the valley after lunch and crossed the river at Annamoe, successfully negotiating the dangerous antique shop.   Back to the car park along the flanks of Trooperstown Hill.

An excellent day out though Val couldn’t join as she was working in the evening.   Still plenty of leaves on the trees despite being well into November.

Very wet everywhere and lots of fungi

Looking north towards the Brockagh and Tonelagee Lunch stop in the Brusher Gap hut (on the Wicklow Way – we had a birthday celebration here last year)
Short and stout Shetland pony trotted over to check us out as we trundled by Holly tree with more berries on it than I have ever seen before.   In fact almost all the hollies this year seem to be fruiting abundantly.   Perhaps a harbinger of a cold winter?
