Ireland day 0372. Wednesday 05 October 2022- Tonelagee Recce
Today’s summary Drove down to Laragh to recce the Brockagh / Tonelagee / St Kevins Way circuit which I did last June and which I am leading for DWC a week on Saturday.   Found it quite hard going with extensive bog, occasional heavy showers of bitterly cold rain, and gale force wind.   But some sun made up for it.   A bit slower than in June – and I didn’t add the short extension to the Lough Ouler overlook either this time.   Traffic heavy on the M50 both ways so over 90 mins to start and back to Malahide again at the end.   Val had a day off work and elected to stay behind and enjoy the delights of the Seamus Heaney exhibition and MoLI cafe in Dublin.
Today’s weather Sunshine and heavy squally showers with a strong to gale force westerly wind.   Appx 12 at sea level, probably nearer 6C on the top in the rain

On the Brockagh.   The ridge from here to the Tonelagee final ascent was hard going – very wet and boggy Fresh cut pine logs by the Glendasan river.   Smelled lovely!
No idea what this brilliant orange laminar fungus growing in the path above the Glendasan mines was.   never seen anything like it before.
