Ireland day 1478. Wednesday 15 October 2025- Dingle Day 4

Ireland day 1478. Wednesday 15 October 2025- Dingle Day 4
Today’s summary Drove all the way to Malahide and back to pick up an important document.   710km round trip – left Dingle at 7:55am and was back around 8pm.   Hard work but worth it.   An uneventful journey both ways apart from the usual holdups on the M50 and at Adara and Tralee.   And the document was successfully retrieved.
Today’s weather Overcast and grey all day with some drizzle in the midlands.   Light north easterly wind.   Appx 13c

Commentary

It’s been a bit of an odd day today, to be honest.

Basically, I’d been expecting delivery of an important document for some time and yesterday I got notice that it had arrived.   Inconveniently right in the middle of our holiday.   I umm-ed and aah-ed a bit about what to do but in the end I decided I better drive back to Malahide to pick it up, rather than risk it going astray in the days before we get back at the weekend.

Yet again, unfortunately for me, this meant an early start so I could be away by 8am.   In the end I left at 7:55 so was pretty pleased with my timing.   The others, left behind in Dingle, had a more leisurely day and were planning to do some sightseeing, walking and cycling.

The drives in each direction were straightforward, taking about five hours either way.   I racked up a total of 710 km behind the wheel, so quite a tiring excursion.   But I got the document OK, so considered it worthwhile.   I even had time in Malahide to get a bite to eat and a coffee in the flat before setting off back west.   In the end I was in the cottage again just after 8pm so all in all was away about 12 hours.   Not too bad, considering I’d traversed Ireland coast to coast at its widest point – twice!
